Stand With Kern County

Kern County Residents Sit-in at California Capitol to Protest Oil Drilling in Central Valley.

This week marks the launch of Break Free – a historic wave of actions around the globe to keep fossil fuels in the ground and accelerate the just transition to a 100% renewable energy economy. As part of this global platform, residents from Kern County are taking action in Sacramento on May 5.

The action will target Governor Brown, who has denied numerous requests to visit the Central Valley and address the mostly Latino and farmworker communities dealing with the health impacts of oil and gas drilling (including hydraulic fracturing). Important leaders in this movement will take action inside the capital and be joined by residents of Kern County in solidarity and prayer, invoking the revolutionary spirit of Cinco De Mayo.
